This is a memoir by Dr. Aimee Knauff, in which she candidly shares her life experiences, including her struggle with brain cancer. She hopes that the lessons she has learned along the way will also help everyone who has struggled, not just from cancer, but with whatever suffering they have encountered or are still encountering.
As Dr. Knauff writes in this book, “Looking inward to my Beloved-self and living out of that love has been the calling of my life. Knowing that I am Beloved is the source of my joy, acceptance, and peace that radiates out to others. I hope that you will also find peace in your suffering as you too learn to live as His Beloved.”
Dr. Aimee Knauff lives in western Pennsylvania with her three adventurous children. Through her service trips to Haiti and other countries, she enjoyed serving people and learning life lessons. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, followed by a Naturopathic Doctorate from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona.
She had a solo medical practice in Vermont for several years, all the while struggling with recurrent brain cancer. Dr. Knauff has been through four brain surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. She currently has a fifth tumor that has been stable for over 2 years. After undergoing more than a year of treatment, she has decided that quality of life is more important than quantity. Dr. Knauff is blessed with supportive family and friends, for whom she is grateful.
Over the past year, she has experienced an incredible decrease in tumor symptoms, and every day feels better and better. Dr. Knauff is now back to practicing the medicine she loves both in her hometown as well as telehealth visits around the world. She practices mindfulness each day and is eternally grateful for the miracle of breath, the miracle of life, and the miracle of death.
A portion of the proceeds will support Catholic Relief Services as they respond globally to help people in need.
